Transmission Foreman
to lead transmission line construction, installation, and maintenance crews. The role focuses on safety, efficiency, and adherence to industry standards and company policies, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and project documentation to support grid reliability. Responsibilities
Provide direct supervision and technical guidance to Linemen, Apprentices, Equipment Operators, Crane Operators, Truck Drivers, and Groundmen. Lead and teach crews in hot stick work on energized transmission lines. Coordinate on-site operations, including crew mobilization, work planning, and equipment setup. Perform and oversee maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized transmission lines. Conduct pre-job briefings (tailboards) and ensure safety protocols are followed. Read and interpret site plans, electrical drawings, and project specifications. Safely perform reconductoring jobs, stringing overhead wire, setting poles and anchors, and identifying puller/tensioner setups. Install and replace transmission system components: transformers, arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear. Troubleshoot and supervise the troubleshooting of primary and secondary transmission systems. Replace cutout fuses and clear faulted circuits. Inspect and maintain PPE, rubber goods, vehicles, and equipment in proper working condition. Ensure compliance with reporting procedures and complete required documentation. Communicate effectively with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and other stakeholders. Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, productivity, and crew development. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Class A-level experience in transmission line construction and maintenance. Valid Class A CDL required. Strong knowledge of transmission line grounding procedures and energized line work. Certification in safe traffic control practices and public safety techniques (per state/local regulations). Proficiency in basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Email, Excel, KPA, Abacus). Competent in operating all equipment, including track bucket/digger. Must pass drug, alcohol, background, physical, and MVR checks. Travel long distances on short notice; work extended hours, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed; outdoor work in all weather conditions. Strong problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills; ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure. Physical Requirements
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly. Climb and work on wood, steel, and other structures at elevated heights. Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching. Perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements. Work involves exposure to high-voltage systems, heights, and noisy environments. Must maintain close visual acuity to perform inspections and detailed tasks. Physically fit to perform pole-top rescue operations and emergency response activities. Working Conditions
Outdoor work in all types of weather, including extreme heat, cold, and storms. Exposure to hazardous conditions typical in electrical utility environments. Flexible to travel to multiple job sites and remain on location for extended periods. Must wear proper PPE at all times. Key Attributes
