Essential Functions The Electronics Technician, Maintenance I applies basic technical knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks following detailed instructions. Tasks include replacing components, wiring circuits, repairing simple electronic equipment, and taking test readings using common instruments such as digital multimeters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, oscilloscopes and amplifiers. Works under close supervision with technical guidance from a supervisor or higher-level technician. Work is checked frequently for accuracy. Overtime and weekend work may be required.
General Duties
The Electronics Technician, Maintenance maintains repairs, troubleshoots, modifies and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radar, radio, television, telecommunication, sonar, and navigational aids); personal and main frame computers and terminals, industrial, medical, measuring, and controlling equipment; and industrial robotic devices.
Possesses a good understanding of basic electronic theories and techniques and familiarity with standard electronic components.
Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles to determine equipment malfunctions, restore operation, evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production models, and recommend changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
Optics associated with laser and camera systems is a plus.
Other Duties May be required to perform other job-related tasks when requested. Additional duties may be assigned to support contract/mission requirements in areas such as environmental, safety, and security. May be required to handle hazardous material/hazardous waste.
Education/Experience Requirements Must be a technical or service school graduate in electronics. Requires manual dexterity necessary to perform repairs and modifications to small assemblies such as integrated circuit boards.
Other Requirements Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.
Work Environment May perform work in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment. Some tasks may require outside work in heat or cold with exposure to conditions typical of various locations. May be required to work offshore in all-weather environments and may require temporary duty travel (TDY).
Physical Demands Required to climb, bend, stoop, lift up to 50 pounds, pull, or carry heavy items.
