As a Plant Manager you will provide leadership for all site operations for a chemical manufacturing facility, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant production. This role oversees end-to-end plant performance, including employee safety, product quality, production targets, cost control, labor and inventory planning, equipment reliability, and regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, etc.). The Plant Manager drives operational readiness and continuous improvement while aligning with enterprise goals and industry best practices. Experience in chemical processing, hazardous materials handling, and batch or continuous operations is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversees daily 24/5 plant operations , ensuring safety, quality, and environmental compliance.

Ensures regulatory compliance

with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable federal, state, and local standards.

Leads plant safety initiatives , including program development, training, and regular safety meetings.

Develops and leads plant personnel , fostering accountability, continuous improvement, and a strong safety culture.

Manages equipment maintenance and reliability

to reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency.

Coordinates production schedules, inventory, and raw material use

to align with customer demand.

Implements Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma

practices to drive process and quality improvements.

Collaborates with corporate leadership

on strategy, budgeting, capital planning, and performance alignment.

Monitors KPIs and drives corrective actions , ensuring production targets and cost metrics are achieved.

Leads audits, inspections, and emergency response

efforts as the site’s main point of contact.

Manages plant costs, capital plans, and staffing , aligning resources with productivity and growth goals.

Provides leadership to direct reports , oversees staffing, reporting, and inventory functions to meet operational goals.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

To successfully perform this job, an individual must be able to perform each key responsibility in a satisfactory manner through individual effort or effective and appropriate collaboration. Additionally, the well-qualified candidate will have the following education and experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Industrial Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).

Over 10 years in operations/production management, with 7+ in chemical manufacturing and 3+ in leadership.

Strong knowledge of chemical processes, hazardous material handling, and both batch and continuous operations.

Proven leadership in safety and regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, DOT).

Skilled in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.

Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate teams, and work cross-functionally across departments.

Capable of aligning plant operations with business objectives and modeling plant capacity/utilization.

Proficient in production planning, cost control, inventory systems, and financial performance oversight.

Experienced with Microsoft Office, payroll/timecard systems, and manufacturing-related software.

Must be able to be on call 24/7, lift 15 lbs, and spend extended periods on the production floor.

Work is typically performed in an inside, temperature-controlled environment. Works and travels throughout plant environment of varied temperatures and humidity, and wears personal protective equipment, as required. Various operations in the plant generate noise, dust, vapor and fumes in the normal course of production.
