Responsibilities
Reviews, inspects, and recommends for approval moderate level encroachment permits.
Assists other staff members in the review and recommendation for approval of complex encroachment permits.
Conducts field inspections on contracts and/or permits to include areas such as traffic control, concrete, asphalt, earthwork, environmental, and safety practices.
Performs routine inspections of roadways to include low/high shoulders, pavement markings, signs, potholes, ditches and other roadway defects.
Assists in emergency operations and being on-call for after hour emergencies.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications A high school diploma and one (1) year of experience that is related to the area of employment, or an approved acceptable equivalence.
Physical Requirements Physical demands include sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time, occasional travel, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, driving and walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and exposure to natural environmental hazards. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental‑related emergencies.
