A Day in the Life The Diabetes Operating Unit focuses on improving the lives of those within the global diabetes community. Position Key Responsibilities
Lead global sourcing initiatives for Professional Services categories (IT Services, Data and Outsourcing, HR, Consulting, Finance and Legal Services)
Analyze spend, market trends, and supplier performance to identify cost reduction and service improvement opportunities
Develop and execute category strategies that align with business goals and regulatory requirements (FDA, ISO 13485)
Collaborate cross‑functionally with stakeholders to ensure alignment of sourcing strategies with business needs
Supplier Management and Contracting
Manage end‑to‑end sourcing processes including RFPs, negotiations, vendor evaluation, and contract development
Lead complex negotiations for IT and R&D Services, including managed services, cloud solutions, software development, infrastructure support, and outsourcing agreements
Partner with Legal, Privacy, and Quality to ensure contracts meet regulatory and operational standards
Negotiate complex technology‑related contracts, particularly in IT and R&D verticals, leveraging strong technical acumen to ensure optimal terms and strategic outcomes
Establish and manage service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor supplier performance
Mitigate supplier risks and support the creation of continuity and contingency plans across regions
Stakeholder Engagement and Leadership
Foster collaborative, strategic relationships with key business stakeholders across IT, R&D, Finance, Legal, Quality and Compliance
Serve as a trusted advisor and sourcing leader for business partners to drive continuous improvement and innovation
Manage project timelines, stakeholder expectations, and communication for all Professional Services sourcing initiatives
Track and report on savings, value realization, and program status to senior leadership
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience
Nice to Have
7+ years of strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management in Professional Services experience
Proven track record of delivering cost savings and service improvements in a global, matrixed environmentli>
Strong knowledge of contracting, vendor negotiations, and supplier governance
Demonstrated ability to understand technical concepts and collaborate effectively with IT and R&D stakeholders to negotiate complex technology contracts
Experience working in highly regulated industry (medical device, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industries is strongly preferred)
Strong knowledge of contract negotiation, supplier performance management, and regulatory compliance (FDA, ISO 13485)
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills
Proficiency in sourcing and contract management tools (e.g., Coupa, Ariba, SAP)
MBA or Master’s in Engineering, Healthcare, or Operations
Lean Six Sigma, PMP, or relevant certification a plus
Experience with digital sourcing platforms or analytics tools
Global sourcing experience is a strong advantage
Travel
Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
\ Benefits & Compensation Salary ranges for U.S. (excl. PR) locations (USD): $138,400.00 – $207,600.00. This position is eligible for a short‑term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range applies across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California.
