Licensed Practical Nurse, LPN - Hand & Wrist Clinic (Full-Time) (Healthcare) This role supports the Hand & Wrist Clinic.

Position Summary The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is an Orthopaedic Nurse responsible for assisting Physicians and/or Advanced Practice Providers in the clinic setting. Duties include rooming patients, obtaining medical histories, completing thorough documentation in EMR, preparing and administering injections, responding to patient phone calls, assisting with procedures, including the application and removal of casts and fitting and educating on Durable Medical Equipment (DME), and maintaining general equipment, supplies, and exam rooms.

Essential Job Functions / Accountabilities Greets patients, completes check‑in process, and answers general questions. Answers telephone calls and schedules office and follow‑up appointments. Obtains and processes referrals. Prepares charts for new patients and pulls charts for upcoming established patient visits. Ensures that all required patient forms are complete, current, and entered into the computer system. Locates medical charts as needed and performs chart filing, wiping, and purging. Checks charts for progress notes and stat orders, prepares charge tickets, and acts on any stat orders. Runs charge tickets and patient‑specific forms. Processes medical record requests. Tracks and documents no‑show patients. Monitors the patient waiting area, makes coffee, straightens up the area as needed. Collects co‑pays and points of authorization (POA) and balances the cash drawer. Gathers information for outside testing if required and obtains authorizations from insurance companies for testing and injections. Provides back‑up coverage and assists in daily office routine in other areas when needed. Monitors and maintains front office equipment and orders office supplies, orthopedic/medical equipment, and supplies. Cleans, sterilizes, and stocks/maintains examination rooms and equipment. Maintains cleanliness of all clinical areas and exam rooms, restocks and orders supplies within budgetary constraints, checks and cleans equipment, and reports any repairs or maintenance needed to the manager. Assists physicians and/or physician assistants with special procedures, gathers necessary equipment, positions patients, and responds to instructions. Prepares X‑ray orders per physician protocol and directs or transports patient to radiology. Prepares laboratory requisitions, arranges for transport of specimens to the laboratory. Performs removal of sutures, staples, dressing and wraps; applies and removes casts and splints. Provides patient education on DME. Prepares and draws up injections. Processes prescriptions and documents in patient records per physician orders. Gathers necessary data and instructional materials for discharged patients and ensures that patients are aware of any necessary follow‑up appointment times and locations. Ensures that patients' X‑ray films are transported in a timely manner to the follow‑up location. Patient education on physicians’ plans of care, including hand‑outs/return demonstrations. Ensures charge tickets are marked appropriately for injections and supplies are given to the patient. Attends in‑services and departmental meetings. All other duties not specifically assigned.

Position Requirements Education: N/A

Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in the field or profession preferred; prior front desk experience in a medical office preferred.

Certifications / Licenses / Registrations

Current and valid license to practice Practical Nursing in the State of Ohio.

Authorized to administer medications by The State of Ohio Board of Nursing.

BLS within 3 months of hire.
