Description Summary: Conducts routine procedures and tests using radiology equipment to acquire patient diagnostic data. Prepares for and assists the radiologist in completion of intricate radiographic procedures including preparation and administration of contrast media and medications in accordance with state and federal regulations. Performs patient assessments and provides patient care. Evaluates the appropriateness of examination and assesses the quality of radiographic images. Join our multidisciplinary care team staffed with physicians, APPs, RNs, CMAs and MOAs. Clinics are open 8am-8pm, 7 days a week and offer x-ray services only. Clinics are staffed with 1 rad tech per 12-hour shift (Number of X-Ray varies by shift). Rad Techs are cross trained to register patients, complete point of care testing and other clinical tasks.
Responsibilities
Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of all aspects of General Diagnostic Radiology, adheres to Departmental Protocols and Policy and Procedures of UNC Healthcare System, obtains RT(R) credentials and maintains Active Status, and assists in troubleshooting work unit problems related to equipment and protocols. Ensures patient demographics, emulsion markers, and examination requests are correct; critiques, orients and saves all pertinent images; transmits QA-ed images to PACS; ensures images reach PACS; documents completion and/or cancellation of procedures in RIS; maintains image management equipment; reports equipment problems; utilizes PACS and HIS systems for additional study data. Conducts routine procedures and tests using radiology equipment to acquire patient diagnostic data. Performs work in a timely manner; produces quality radiographic images consistently; analyzes requests and draws appropriate conclusions for examination and action plan; reviews orders and images for accurate demographics; maintains a clean and safe work environment; documents incidents and communicates improvement opportunities to the supervisor. Uses RIS, CIS, PACS and SMS to access information and document procedure status; modifies orders for appropriateness; completes exam in RIS; performs QC and transmits information to PACS; verifies all information arrives properly into PACS. Verifies patient identity and relevant history; assesses pregnancy status before ionizing radiation; assesses physical condition to determine if additional personnel or equipment are needed; assists patients requiring extra attention; responds to emergencies; ensures patient safety.

Education Requirements:
Associate's degree or completion of an accredited Radiologic Sciences Program. If degree is not yet complete, candidates may be selected contingent on completing a degree program within 90 days of hire. Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or registry-eligible and must become registered within one year from date of hire. Registry-eligible candidates must provide a diploma copy. Must maintain registry status and continuing education annually. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification Professional Experience Requirements:
No prior experience required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledgeable of radiation protection and safety, general and electrical safety, infection control, TB and standard precautions.
