2025 Chemical Analysis – Metals & Separation Technical Associate - Research & Development
Job Description:
The candidate will assume a variety of responsibilities in support of the elemental analysis (ICP/ICPMS) and separation MS (GPC/GC/LC/IC) groups within DuPont Analytical Sciences Laboratories located in Experimental Stations, Wilmington, DE. The candidate will work under the direction of technical staff to provide analytical support for R&D, TS&D and Manufacturing as needed.
Key job responsibilities include:
Preparation of samples, reagents and standards for elemental analysis (ICP/ICPMS) and separation MS (GPC/GC/LC/IC), following a standard procedure (wet chemistry, microwave digestion) Data acquisition and assessing basic data quality Perform routine instrument (ICP/GPC/GC/LC in particular) operation and maintenance Dispose of lab waste and other lab maintenance following a set protocol Cleaning and restocking lab areas as needed Purchases routine lab supplies and reagents Retrieve, move and connect/disconnect cylinders for the purpose of analysis Work safely at all times and ensure a safety culture and a safe working environment in the laboratory.
Qualifications:
Skills in sample preparation and experience with a variety of lab equipment in a chemical laboratory setting are highly desirable. Hands-on experience with common Elemental Analysis sample preparation methods such as acid digestion including use of HF and open/closed vessel microwave-assisted digestions. Fluent in Microsoft Office software. Prior experience in ICP/ICPMS and GPC/LC/GC/MS is highly preferred but is not a requirement. Prior experience in industrial analytical lab is a plus. An ability to work well with other people under tight timelines and conflicting priorities is critical.
Minimum Qualifications:
B.S. in chemistry, materials science, physics, or engineering or demonstration of equivalent knowledge acquired in on-the-job training.
