Overview Janicki Industries is an innovative, family-owned aerospace company located at the foot of the Cascades. We focus on engineering and manufacturing complex projects for companies in the aerospace, defense, and space industries. We are looking for a Technical Writer to join our growing team.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position is located on-site in Sedro-Woolley, Washington State.

The Technical Writer is responsible for developing, organizing, and maintaining internal documentation that supports operational clarity, cross-functional collaboration, and knowledge retention. This role ensures that content across platforms, including the company wiki, knowledge hubs, and internal guides, is accurate, accessible, and aligned with organizational standards.

Technical Writers work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, and operational leaders to capture tribal knowledge, translate complex information, and implement scalable documentation systems. The role spans tactical content creation, strategic process improvement, and platform stewardship.

The following essential job functions are performed as a Technical Writer:

Conduct gap analyses of existing documentation to identify missing, outdated, or redundant content

Interview and collaborate with SMEs to extract and document critical and tribal knowledge

Translate complex technical concepts into accessible content tailored for a broad internal audience

Develop and maintain templates, content models, and workflows to support scalable documentation

Audit internal documentation for accuracy, relevance, and consistency with best practices

Enforce standardized formatting and content guidelines across all platforms

Organize content in intuitive, searchable structures that support operational efficiency

Monitor and maintain content standards for the company wiki, knowledge hub, and related systems

Track and report documentation metrics, update cycles, and usage trends

Support onboarding and training efforts by developing documentation-related learning materials

Collaborate with IT and platform owners to improve usability and structure of documentation tools

Lead the design and delivery of training programs related to documentation and knowledge management

Contribute to web design, UX writing, or platform configuration as needed

Must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines

Must be at work on time and maintain good attendance. This is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job

Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3)

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). Janicki will assist with gaining this access once employed. Special Access Program or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position and requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Minimum requirement for all positions is a high school diploma or GED

Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields is preferred:

Technical Communication / Technical Writing

Communications or Journalism (with technical experience)

UX Writing / Content Design / Web Design

Knowledge Management or Organizational Development

Industrial Engineering

Strong writing, editing, and formatting skills across technical and operational domains

Familiarity with documentation platforms (e.g., Confluence, SharePoint, Notion, or custom wikis)

Experience with version control, content lifecycle management, and documentation audits

Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines

Background in web design, UX writing, or content architecture is a plus

Experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or engineering environments preferred

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across departments

Experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or engineering environments is beneficial but not required

Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Salary range for this role is between

$80,000 - $105,000 , plus discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
