Be part of a team that’s committed to service, innovation, and community.**Job Summary**Assists in the installation, repair, and routine maintenance of natural gas, water, and wastewater lines and fixtures such as drinking fountains, ornamental fountains, rest room fixtures, irrigation equipment, fire suppression sprinkler heads, and temporary fixtures at special events to maintain or improve city facilities.**Job Description****Overview**The Plumber assists in the installation, repair, and routine maintenance of natural gas, water, and wastewater lines and fixtures such as drinking fountains, ornamental fountains, rest room fixtures, irrigation equipment, fire suppression sprinkler heads, and temporary fixtures at special events to maintain or improve city facilities.**Essential Functions****1** Assists in the installation of water fixtures on or in city property to improve or maintain level of service; checks restroom fixtures, repairs any toilets, urinals, seats, or other plumbing, and addresses clogs and damages.**2** Assists in the planning and installation of natural gas pipelines to support the installation of improvement projects; monitors work orders and details of projects. communicates with tenants, and addresses pipeline issues.**3** Measures, cuts, and threads iron pipe for natural gas pipelines or water/wastewater lines.**4** Removes clogs from wastewater systems using manual and/or small power tools.**5** Makes minor mechanical repairs to small water or fuel pumps; maintains, repairs, and fixes irrigation lines and related issues.**6** Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.**Knowledge and Skills****1** Knowledge of power tools and their proper usage.**2** Basic knowledge of plumbing code and safety guidelines.**3** Ability to cut and thread iron pipe with appropriate machines.**4** Ability to read blueprints.**5** Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.**6** Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.**Minimum Qualifications****Experience**One (1) year of experience in installation, repair or routine maintenance of pipe/irrigation systems.**Licenses and Certifications*** Valid driver's license with good driving record.* Some positions may require a valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) prior to completion of probation.* Must obtain Plumber Apprentice registration prior to completion of probation.**Education**High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.**Other Requirements*** Subject to working in inclement weather conditions.* Subject to working varying shifts **including** nights, weekends and holidays.**Salary Range**$22.32 - $24.56The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.City of Dallas is an Equal Opportunity Employer.The City of Dallas is one of the largest employers in the DFW Metroplex.
