The Instrumentation, Controls, and Electrical Technician I (ICE Tech I) position installs, tests, maintains, and repairs instrumentation, control systems and DCS equipment at the ODEC Wildcat Point Generation Facility in Conowingo, Maryland. This is a professional level position with a general knowledge of instrumentation and electrical systems. The incumbent must be motivated to learn various complex plant control systems and emissions monitoring equipment. This position requires working varying hours in a team environment while performing various support functions. The ICE Tech I incorporates safe behavior into all activities and consistently complies with all established environmental, safety, and health policies and procedures. Essential responsibilities
Maintains the facility’s instrumentation, controls and electrical equipment and all associated auxiliary and support equipment. Ensures the plant is maintained in compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, ODEC policies and procedures. Calibrates, tests, maintains, troubleshoots, and installs power plant instrumentation and control systems Performs preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on instrumentation, control systems, and electrical equipment, coordinating work with other departments Maintains open and effective communication with managers, co-workers, and contractors Coordinates with and effectively direct contractors Troubleshoots and monitors plant equipment, control systems, electrical systems, and instrumentation Supports the maintenance and troubleshooting of the Distributed Control System (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA). Programs and commissions electrical controls systems using SCADA, PLCs, DCS, HMIs and industrial networking hardware Supports the use of computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) Participates in training and qualification programs, becoming a subject matter expert in assigned area. Provides training to other plant personnel Effectively contributes to the general housekeeping and continuous improvement of the facility in addition to maintaining cleanliness of all areas, equipment, and tools The ICE Technician I will typically work the day shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM), however will need to be able to work overtime, irregular hours and on short notice, an adjusted work schedule, based on plant requirements. Minimum Qualifications
Qualified candidate will have a minimum 7 years’ power plant operations experience and a minimum of 5 years’ experience as an ICE Technician. Critical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be familiar with DCS control systems to include creating and modifying logic, troubleshooting hardware, software and networking issues Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member Ability to make safe, well thought-out critical decisions Ability to effectively problem solve Ability to safely operate equipment Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities
Combined Cycle experience preferred Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Projects, Outlook, and OneDrive Education and Licenses
Education Required : High school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree preferred. Licenses Required : Valid driver’s license Working Conditions and Physical Demands
Work outdoors for long periods of time while exposed to various weather conditions Walk on uneven surfaces and stack platforms and climb stack ladders hundreds of feet high Distinguish colors and accurately read and interpret instruments and gauges Hear and understand audible alarms and detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment and portable radio communication Occasionally work in confined spaces Occasionally lift and or move objects up to 50 pounds Pass a respirator physical and respirator fit test Ability to respond in person to plant emergencies Compensation
Compensation range: $57.28/hour to $63.64/hour Based on the requirements of this role, the target rate we anticipate paying the selected candidate is $57.28 per hour. If an employment offer is extended, the rate offered will consider several factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, education, and certifications. Depending on an individual's qualifications, the offered rate may exceed this target. Travel
