Mechanical Designer – Piping 2
Location: Euharlee GA 30120
Contract- 1 Year Client- Southern Company. Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced
Mechanical Designer – Piping
with 5+ years of relevant industry experience to support retrofit, environmental, and new generation power plant projects. This role is essential for providing accurate and safe piping system designs using 3D modeling tools, coordinating with cross-discipline teams, and delivering quality engineering documents in a timely manner. Key Responsibilities:
Develop and produce
3D piping and equipment designs
for retrofit and new generation projects.
Generate
2D orthographic and isometric drawings ,
P&IDs , pipe support designs, and related deliverables.
Collaborate with engineers and designers from multiple disciplines to ensure cohesive and effective design solutions.
Apply
industry codes and standards
(e.g., ASME, ANSI) to all design work.
Conduct
field walkdowns
and gather site data to support development of design packages.
Prepare and verify
material take-offs (MTOs) .
Perform quality checks on design documents for accuracy and completeness.
Contribute to multiple large-scale projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
5+ years
of mechanical design experience in piping systems, preferably in
power generation
or
heavy industrial
environments.
Proven experience with
3D piping design tools
(AutoPLANT and/or AVEVA preferred).
Demonstrated ability to produce and interpret
P&IDs ,
2D drawings , and
3D models .
Experience with
pipe supports , layout, and isometric drawings.
Familiarity with
mechanical codes, standards, and industry best practices .
Strong skills in coordinating with field and engineering staff during all project phases.
Preferred Skills & Attributes:
Self-motivated, proactive, and
able to manage multiple concurrent projects .
Excellent
communication
and
team collaboration
abilities.
Strong
organizational skills
and attention to detail.
Ability to
build and maintain professional relationships
