Salary Range 81,843.84 - 126,846.72 yearly

General Summary A licensed Pharmacist responsible for assuring Pharmacy is providing the highest standards pertaining to patient and staff safety. Assuring the Pharmacy is compliant with all Joint Commission and other Federal and State regulatory agencies overseeing Bayhealth. Incumbent is responsible for investigating all Safety First Reports and responding appropriately.

Responsibilities

Coordinate all activities related to medication safety and regulatory compliance (reporting, system and process evaluation, formulation of recommendations and initiatives, coordination of intervention strategies, monitoring of activities related to medication safety and regulatory compliance).

Identify key projects related to medication safety and regulatory compliance.

Be accountable for coordinating the implementation of these projects system-wide.

Ensure compliance with State and Federal Regulations as well as legal requirements relating to medication safety and regulatory compliance.

Assist in the Accreditation Process.

Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis.

Identify safety and regulatory deficiencies; suggest and help to implement appropriate corrective actions.

Participate in the departmental and unit based improvement process on a routine basis and other task force/committees as designated.

Maintain expert knowledge of the defined standards and criteria used by High Reliability Organizations.

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience

Education: Bachelor Degree Pharmacy

Credential: Licensed Pharmacist

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Hospital Pharmacy.

Preferred: 8 years of experience in an acute hospital setting with managerial experience. Comprehensive knowledge of current standards and regulations disseminated by The Joint Commission, Delaware State Board of Pharmacy, FDA, USP

/ , and ASHP as they relate to medication safety and departmental and organizational regulatory compliance. Knowledge of pharmacy operations, personnel management, and budgets.
