EMI Services is hiring a

Wastewater Collections Operator

to operate sewage collection system, lift station equipment in wastewater (sewage) collections systems to control flow and processing of sewage, monitor control panels and adjust valves and gates manually, observe variations in operating conditions and interpret meter and gauge readings, and test results to determine load requirements. This worker maintains lift station pumps, lift stations, installs and operates bypass pumps, maintains wet wells, maintains log of operations and maintenance, records meter readings, conducts tests on effluent. Will also supervise and train workers in performing routine operations and maintenance and collect sewage sample for laboratory testing. Clean and inspect sewer systems pipes using a vacuum truck with jetter.

Salary $37.57 plus $4.93 fringe benefits used towards insurance and 401k!

Key Responsibilities

Develop maintenance schedules and assign duties to workers

Maintain and monitor pumps and equipment

Add Chemicals to the wastewater effluent to reduce H2S, such as sodium hypochlorite

Cleans wet wells

Repairs, lubricates machines and equipment

Inspect pumps, sump pumps; prime pumps as needed

Collect and Tests wastewater samples

Read charts and gauges and record data monitoring plant processes

Perform other related duties as assigned

Perform on-call duties and respond to emergencies after hours

Essential Skills

Ability to use testing tools and equipment such as colorimeter, turbidimeter, conductivity meter

Experience operating vacuum trucks

Effective oral and written communication skills

Effective technical, interpersonal, and organizational skills

Thorough knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used; applicable safety code requirements; methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment

Able to read and understand operation/equipment manuals.

Adaptable and flexible in work situations.

Prioritizes tasks to ensure completion in a timely manner

PRACTICE WORKPLACE SAFETY in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies

including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

High school or GED

Specialized training and experience in the trade of Wastewater Collections or Treatment Plant Operations

Valid driver’s license compliant with the REAL ID Act or willing and able to obtain

Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check to obtain base access

Reliable: wants to be part of a team

U.S. citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations

Preferred Qualifications

Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)/ Class B with tanker certification

Wastewater Collections I or II

Wastewater Treatment Certification I or II

OSHA 30

Physical Requirements

Tasks require the ability to exert moderate, though not constant physical effort

Some combination of climbing and balancing to include climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling

Some lifting to include overhead lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (10-20 pounds)

May occasionally involve heavier objects and materials (up to 50 pounds)
