POSITION/TITLE: Assistant Superintendent LOCATION: Columbia, South Carolina DEPARTMENT: Government Contracting MANAGER: Superintendent PAY GRADE: $65,000-76,000 DATE: 7/14/2025 GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Assistant Construction Superintendent supports the Construction Superintendent in overseeing daily operations on construction sites. This role involves coordinating tasks, managing schedules, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, quality control, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Additionally, the Assistant Superintendent provides support to Superintendents and Project Managers in scheduling, finance, field operations, and project administration. The candidate must display excellent customer service skills, including strong communication and interpersonal abilities, and interact positively with clients, subcontractors, employees, management, and office personnel while providing outstanding service. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors regarding scheduled activities and needs on the project site. Assist with creating daily reports using Procore and other project software. Support site access and base access coordination. May act as short-term independent supervision on a project site. Assist with submittal processes, close-out documents, etc., as appropriate. Quality Control:

Assist Superintendents and Project Managers with project QC plan development and implementation. Ensure all submittals comply with project documents. Review and update Deficiency, Discrepancy, and Punch Lists. Assist in communicating project changes and their implementation. Create and review submittals, compare with received materials onsite. Coordinate testing services as required by the schedule. Project Scheduling:

Assist in developing 3- or 4-week outlooks. Provide input and double-check milestone schedules. Review schedules for long lead items and upcoming needs. Ensure project milestones are met. Financial Management:

Understand project budgets; ensure purchases and receipts are properly coded and submitted. Review subcontractor and vendor invoices. Additional Responsibilities:

Know and apply Davis Bacon Act, Service Contract Act, and wage determinations. Review invoices and deliveries against Purchase Orders. Develop mentorship relationships with Superintendents or Project Managers. Recruit construction personnel and promote a positive, safe work environment. Safety:

Ensure compliance with safety requirements (Tribal One, OSHA, client). Support safety orientations and participate in inspections. Ensure project personnel are trained on safety protocols. Maintain a clean and safe job site environment. Customer Satisfaction:

Maintain professional communication with all project stakeholders. Respond to calls/emails within 24 hours. Complete work as promised. Work Procurement:

Attend pre-bid site visits. Build relationships with subcontractors. Assist with bids and proposals. Job Qualifications & Requirements:

2-4 years of construction experience, preferably in the field. Associate's degree in construction management or related field preferred. Experience in electrical or plumbing (preferred). Knowledge of construction practices and field activities. Leadership and safety enforcement skills, OSHA 30 certification required. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills. Detail-oriented, organized, and professional demeanor. Availability to work flexible hours and travel as needed. Experience with federal government contracting is required. Valid driver's license and ability to pass background checks. Must pass drug screening and adhere to drug-free workplace policies.
