Senior NDT Quality Inspector

position offers a great opportunity for a resilient, team-minded individual who embraces challenges. As a member of the Maintenance/Repair Services team at Trinity, you’ll perform Non-Destructive Testing for preventive maintenance and structural and mechanical repairs. You will follow procedures and diagnostic inspections to determine and approve work orders. What you'll do: Hold certifications in at least three NDT methods. Possess VT II certification or CWI. Apply and utilize quality science independently. Use inspection tools and measuring equipment extensively. Provide on-the-job NDT training and guidance to trainees. Assist in completing tasks to meet deadlines. Inspect in accordance with tank car qualification procedures to ensure compliance with FRA, AAR, Trinity Industries, and other customer requirements. Have knowledge of welding and welding inspection. Utilize basic hand tools. Measure accurately to specifications. Read drawings and schematics with basic mechanical aptitude; use railroad gauges, testing techniques, and test equipment. Work from blueprints or other specifications. Complete inspection documentation accurately. Quickly learn and understand complex procedures, standards, and regulations. Follow all safety rules and practices. Participate in safety committees or initiatives if involved. Perform other duties as assigned. Communicate technical information effectively. Enter tank cars via a manway opening approximately 20 inches in diameter. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Previous railroad repair experience is preferred but not required. Minimum 2 years of experience. Knowledge of industry-specific tests and test equipment. Experience in quality control/assurance in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Working knowledge of computers, operating systems, and Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel). Certified in at least three methods among: Visual Test Method (VT), Remote Visual Test Method (RVI), Leak Testing (BLT), Ultrasonic Thickness Test (UTT), or Ultrasonic Shear Wave (UT Flaw). Documented classroom training hours and experience hours for the employed NDT methods. Ability to obtain NDT Level II certifications per Trinity Rail’s written practice. Must have a valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
