Position Overview We are seeking a
Field Inspector – Electrical
to perform detailed inspections and quality verification of electrical installations. The role requires hands‑on experience in power distribution systems, grounding and bonding, and low‑voltage networks. The inspector ensures compliance with
NEC/NFPA, NETA, and Texan local codes
, while coordinating closely with QA/QC, Trade Leads, and commissioning teams.
The position
functionally reports to the QC Engineer and administratively to the Trade Team Lead
, ensuring full alignment between project execution and quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct and document inspections for
underground and above‑ground electrical installations
, including
MV/LV cable routing, duct banks, grounding/bonding systems, terminations, and telecom conduits .
Review
IFC drawings, shop drawings, and submittals
; identify discrepancies and coordinate with QA/QC and construction teams for resolution.
Ensure compliance with
NEC (NFPA 70), NETA ATS, NFPA 72, NFPA 70E, IEEE
, and applicable
Texan local codes, ICC/IBC, and ASTM standards .
Implement and maintain
Quality Plans, ITPs, MMRs, and Inspection Requests (IRs)
in accordance with project QA/QC procedures.
Attend daily
“flex and stretch”
coordination meetings with GC and trade partners to review upcoming electrical works, inspection readiness, and quality priorities.
Perform daily field walks to identify progress, safety concerns, and potential installation issues; report findings to the Trade Team Lead and QA/QC Engineer.
Witness and document
continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, and grounding tests
, and verify conformance with NETA/NEC standards.
Verify that all electrical materials and equipment (cables, panels, fittings, enclosures) are
UL-listed and conform to approved submittals .
Track and close out
Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
, ensuring timely corrective action and documentation.
Maintain accurate
daily inspection reports, photographic evidence, and progress trackers/logs .
Participate in
hold/witness point inspections
and verify completion of
punch lists
and corrective works.
Provide guidance to trade partners on quality control procedures and compliance expectations.
Promote electrical safety and lockout/tagout (LOTO) compliance across all site activities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
or equivalent technical diploma.
3–7 years
of electrical inspection or QA/QC experience in large-scale commercial, industrial, or data center projects.
Strong understanding of
NEC/NFPA codes, NETA testing standards, and electrical installation practices .
Familiarity with
medium- and low-voltage systems
, including cable routing, terminations, switchgear, lighting, and grounding.
Proficiency in
MS Office .
Excellent communication and reporting skills; able to work independently and coordinate with multi-discipline teams.
Physically fit for field inspections in active construction environments, including confined spaces and elevated work areas.
Preferred Qualifications
OSHA 30
certification or equivalent safety qualification.
NICET Level II/III, ISO 9001, NETA, ICC, or NEC-related certifications
are considered an advantage.
Experience in
NETA-ATS and NFPA 70E
testing environments.
Familiarity with
power distribution testing (megger, ground resistance, thermal imaging) .
Proven ability to manage
ITP execution, NCR tracking, and close-out documentation .
