Pacific Scientific Energetic Materials Company This role is responsible for executing sourcing strategies, managing supplier performance, and ensuring reliable and cost‑effective supply of assigned commodities for our rapidly growing aerospace & defense programs. The Commodity Manager will bridge strategic intent with tactical execution, ensuring supplier contracts, cost targets, and performance metrics are achieved. The position reports directly to the Strategic Sourcing Leader. Sourcing & Contracting
Execute sourcing activities for assigned commodities within the category strategies framework. Lead RFQs, bid evaluations, and contract negotiations. Develop and maintain supplier contracts, pricing agreements, and terms. Supplier Performance Management
Monitor and report supplier delivery, quality, and cost performance. Drive corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers. Partner with Supplier Quality and Supplier Development Engineers to resolve escalations. Operational Execution
Ensure purchase orders are issued on time, aligned to demand schedules and contracts. Manage cost reduction initiatives and value improvement activities. Support ERP/materials planning processes by maintaining accurate lead times, pricing, and supplier master data. Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Category Leaders to ensure commodity execution supports a long‑term strategy. Partner with Program Management and Engineering on new product introductions (NPI) and product improvement. Support Manufacturing and Materials teams to ensure continuity of supply during ramps and surges. Partner with Engineering teams to develop should‑cost models and perform technical evaluations where appropriate. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject; Master’s degree preferred. 5+ years of procurement, commodity management, or sourcing experience (aerospace & defense preferred). Strong negotiation skills with demonstrated cost reduction and supplier performance results. Familiarity with aerospace quality standards (AS9100, NADCAP) a plus. Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle or equivalent). Ability to analyze data, build cost models, and use metrics to drive decisions. Excellent communication and relationship skills. Negotiations & Contract Management – proven ability to deliver win‑win outcomes. Supplier Management & Evaluation – skilled in driving supplier accountability. Risk Awareness – ability to anticipate supply risk and execute mitigation plans. Cross‑Functional Collaboration – comfortable partnering with Engineering, Quality, and Program teams. The salary range for this position (in local currency) is 89,200.00 – 165,600.00. ITAR Compliance
