We are seeking an experienced
Director – Rates & Regulatory Affairs
to lead regulatory filings, rate cases, and compliance initiatives. Reporting to executive leadership, this role plays a critical part in shaping and executing regulatory strategy, managing key regulatory initiatives, and ensuring compliance while supporting overall business goals. The ideal candidate will have extensive utility regulatory experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to translate regulatory outcomes into actionable business strategies that maximize rate recovery and support long-term growth. Essential Duties
Coordinate the preparation, submission, and management of regulatory applications, filings, and rate cases. Develop ratemaking models and prepare filings for rate surcharges, adjustors, and similar mechanisms. Identify and implement improvements to ratemaking processes, modeling, and planning activities. Ensure compliance with regulatory decisions, directives, and industry requirements. Lead tariff management, revenue/sales reporting, and compliance tracking. Prepare and summarize financial information for budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning. Conduct economic and cost/benefit analyses for projects, acquisitions, and feasibility studies. Develop industry-related studies, including customer growth, usage, and statistical benchmarking. Provide timely updates on regulatory rules, regulations, and emerging practices. Perform research projects and special assignments on regulatory, operational, and management matters. Skills, Knowledge & Requirements
Strong background in
finance, accounting, economics, and statistics .
Advanced understanding of
revenue requirements, cost recovery mechanisms, and ratemaking principles .
Prior experience working with state public utility commissions strongly preferred.
Strong business acumen and ability to link regulatory decisions to utility operations, financial performance, and strategy.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proficiency in
Microsoft Office Suite (advanced level) .
Comfortable working as both a
leader and individual contributor
in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to perform physical activities typical of an office environment, including lifting up to 40 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in
Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration , or related field from an accredited college or university.
10 years of prior experience
with a public utility in rates, regulatory affairs, or accounting.
