POSITION TITLE:
Insurance Verification Specialist STATUS:
Non – Exempt DIRECT REPORTS:
N/A ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:
Provides internal personnel with insurance benefit information. This position ensures timely verification of insurance benefit information. This position ensures timely verification of insurance benefits and financial clearance which has a direct impact to the organization’s reimbursement from payers for patient accounts that are scheduled and unscheduled. Must be able to communicate with insurance companies and clients from a resolution-based perspective.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Verify patient’s insurance coverage and obtain pre-authorization. • Referral management. • Answer questions from patients and insurance companies. • Perform various collection actions such as claim submission, rejections and denials, payment posting as needed. • Ensure that all billing is sent/ transmitted, and that payment or reimbursements are received in a timely manner. • Participate in educational activities and attend department meetings. • Understand and adhere to the established office policies and procedures. • Other job duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: • High School Diploma • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred) • Up to date on CPR training • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include superior interpersonal and patient contact skills and excellent telephone manners. • Ability to effectively lead a team
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE, NOT REQUIRED: • At least two (2) years of Management experience • At least one (2) year of related experience in a Neurological setting • Ability to communicate effectively and handle multiple priorities • Strong computer and typing skills.
