Overview
Sun River Health provides comprehensive primary, preventive and behavioral health services to all patients, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia and Westchester County. Sun River Health is seeking a Full Time Medical Assistant to support our Peekskill location.
Position A Medical Assistant helps patients and the clinical team in support of medical care as directed by the nursing and medical staff and pursuant to the objectives and policies of the Center. This position performs duties in compliance with systems and job-specific standards and any additional duties assigned.
Responsibilities
Completes the rooming process and takes vital signs, vision, and/or hearing tests; records patient data in eCW (laboratory results, pain level, PEAS, PHQ, Smoke status, etc.) and documents reason for visit.
Conducts in-house labs and collects specimens for outside labs (e.g., Pap, cultures); performs quality control in accordance with organizational protocols.
Keeps clinical area stocked and in good order; ensures dated materials are current and disposes of outdated supplies.
Cleans and sterilizes equipment and logs each service performed.
Performs basic clerical work in the service area; answers phones appropriately, communicates problems/concerns to the nurse, and handles telephone inquiries.
Maintains all appropriate logs.
Qualifications
Minimum Education Requirement: High School diploma/ GED with Medical Assistant Training Certificate
Preferred Education Requirement: Associate's degree with Medical Assistant Training Certificate
Minimum Related Work Experience: 0-1 year
Preferred Specialized Skills & Knowledge: Bilingual Spanish is preferred
