02190 WFBMG University Group Practice: Greensboro Northline - Immediate Care Responsibilities

Provides patient/family centered care focusing on physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs. Includes rapid evaluation of life-threatening emergencies, implementation of prescribed therapies within scope of practice, and collaboration with nursing and medical team to establish treatment goals. Maintains a safe, therapeutic environment and ensures patient privacy. Promotes use of technology and equipment to enhance safety for patients and staff. Communicates effectively to promote information sharing throughout the continuum of care and as a team member of the healthcare team. Participates in a professional practice model, shared governance, standards of care, peer review, professional development, leadership, clinical excellence, teamwork, autonomous practice, and accountability for actions and critical thinking. Acts as a patient advocate throughout the continuum of care, including all patient settings and in the community. Identifies clinical priorities and initiates actions to improve patient outcomes. Uses medications, treatments and protocols within the scope of practice as defined by NCOEMS, under physician orders. Performs and maintains competency for point of care testing; ensures compliance with WFBH Point of Care policies and applicable regulations. Documents medications and treatments in the Electronic Medical Record; provides and documents patient re-assessment in the EMR per hospital policy. Demonstrates high-level teamwork with other Emergency Department Care team members. Supports evidence-based practice, research, and quality improvement initiatives. Upholds the organization’s patient promise at all times and facilitates optimal patient flow through the Emergency Department while ensuring safety and security of patients. Qualifications

Paramedic certification from an accredited program, or an A.A.S. degree in paramedic studies or equivalent. Three years of Emergency Service experience preferred. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and applicable state-OEMS EMT-P certification required. ACLS or PALS may be required within one year in select areas. Critical care certificate or national registry paramedic preferred. Maintains certification through an approved state-OEMS education provider. Computer skills for electronic documentation of patient care. Skills

Ability to provide direct and indirect patient care; strong oral and written communication; ability to work collaboratively. Ability to evaluate and respond to verbal and nonverbal communication from patients across development stages (neonates to geriatrics). Builds rapport with hospital personnel, providers, patients, and visitors. Ability to push stretchers, wheelchairs, carts, and equipment; lifts and positions patients; clear, concise, professional communication via telephone/automation devices. Performs duties in accordance with state and federal laws and hospital policies. Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Handles emergency or crisis situations; subject to highly stressful and crowded conditions; moderate noise; interruptions; wear PPE. Physical demands: standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, dexterity, talking, hearing, seeing; lifting/pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs as applicable. Benefits & Compensation
