Overview
Do you have a passion for working with children and families? We are looking for compassionate, dedicated people in Collin County, Texas who want to empower youth and families by creating strength-based behavior change that will be sustained long after treatment ends. You will receive ongoing training in the Multisystemic Therapy (MST) model as you work with families, youth, their communities, and other key members of their ecology to implement MST as designed. MST therapists collaborate with all involved to address the needs of juveniles with criminal offenses, including, in some cases, substance abuse. You will empower families to address challenging and/or problematic behavior and to help youth aged 12 - 17 make life-transforming changes. Treatment progress is made through intensive interventions such as skill building, changing unhelpful family interactions, and increasing social support. Duties & Responsibilities
Provide direct clinical treatment using the MST model and principles, including leveraging strengths, focusing on positive behavior change, understanding sequences of behavior, and promoting mature behavior. Conduct thorough assessments of the client and family to inform problem conceptualization within the family’s ecological context. Engage a diverse community of clients and understand the types of families in the community. Continuously engage primary caregiver, family members, supports, and community agency staff (school, probation, child welfare) in change-oriented treatment. Allocate time for weekly case planning and evaluation with supervision and team support. Receive ongoing training, supervision, and consultation to develop extensive clinical skills within the MST framework. Ensure clients have access to 24/7 support as needed, in collaboration with other clinicians. Qualifications Master’s degree in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, or a related subject area required; provisional licensure at minimum. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to clients’ homes and possibly transport multiple clients at once. Must live within a 30–45 minute travel time from the designated service area. Licensing requirements: Master’s Degree in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, or related; professional licensure as LPC-Associate, LMFT-Associate, or LMSW under clinical supervision required; full licensure as LPC/LMFT/LCSW preferred. Preferred Experience Direct use of pragmatic family therapies (structural, strategic, functional). Therapy with children and adults using cognitive-behavioral techniques. Couples therapy using behaviorally based approaches. Implementation of interventions within or between systems in the youth’s natural ecology (family, peer, school, neighborhood). Collaboration with community agencies; previous in-home or community-based therapy experience.
