Job Summary The Nurse Manager is responsible for promoting and restoring patients' health by developing daily management and long‑term planning of the patient care area; directing and developing staff; collaborating with providers and multidisciplinary professional staff; providing physical and psychological support for patients, friends and families. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with staff, patients, families, and visitors of all age groups, while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.
Job Responsibilities
Demonstrate flexibility in job duties
Must be available to work extended hours as needed
Address nursing staff needs and shortages appropriately
Initiate, coordinate and enforce organizational, operational, and personnel policies and procedures
Assist with orienting and training nursing staff
Willingly provide support for the nursing staff
Effectively communicate with patients and families
Maintain a safe and clean working environment
Complete employee evaluations in a timely manner
Ensure operation of medical equipment, reports malfunctions, and calls in repairs as needed
Maintain clinic medical supplies by anticipating needs, ordering and maintaining availability of medical supplies
Consistently strive to maintain a cooperative relationship among health care teams
Must be available for employee call‑ins
Must be able to give guidance and direction in stressful situations
Effectively delegate tasks to nurses
Demonstrate a caring and compassionate attitude toward patients and staff
Adequately communicate with providers
Effectively teach patient education
Monitor patient needs and attempt to satisfy patient complaints
Knowledgeable in operating medical equipment
Maintain prompt and regular attendance
Verify timecard at the end of each pay period
Performs related work as assigned
Job Requirements
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Current nursing license in the State of Mississippi
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association
Must demonstrate knowledge and skills in the administration of duties
Knowledge of basic clinical operations such as supervising nursing staff, overseeing clinical reporting, and ordering medical supplies
Must listen objectively and provide constructive criticism
Must demonstrate positive personal attributes such as professionalism, honesty, and integrity
Must demonstrate ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision
Physical and Other Requirements
Must continuously listen, visualize and have dexterity and eye‑hand coordination
Ability for simple grasping and speed work
Must frequently sit, squat, reach, use both right and left forearm rotation, walk and climb stairs
Must occasionally kneel, twist, have ability to grasp firmly, lift and carry, push and pull in excess of 10 lb
