The RN Supervisor for our Home Infusion department coordinates the nursing component for home infusion therapies. Supervises IV certified nurses daily from the office, acts as a resource, participates in program development, quality assurance and the delivery of care. Remains familiar with all pumps, access devices, drugs and central lines. Develops and maintains relationships with referral services and client base. Determines appropriateness of patients for home therapy. Provides direct care to clients in their homes as needed and on-call. Instructs and supervises the client and/or significant other in safe administration of therapy, safe storage and disposal of supplies, potential side effects, and supervision and evaluation during therapy. Starts, restarts, and maintains IV access devices as required. Remains familiar with operation and maintenance of all pumps, supplies and access devices. Responsibilities
Assist manager with completing the nursing schedule on a weekly basis. Coordinate nursing for Medicare/Medicaid recipients with a certified agency. Fax MD orders and client information; complete coordination of care with the nursing agency. Help coordinate paperwork in CPR system; arrange teaching for home infusion patients and caregivers as required. Ensure safe administration of therapies; provide on-call coverage as needed. Maintain relationships with referral services and client base; ensure timely communication with physicians and nursing staff. Verify nursing licenses and certifications; maintain required competencies and ongoing education. Ensure alignment with company policies; participate in committees and policy updates. Verifies supplies with the pharmacy department and coordinates delivery times with field nurses. Ensure nursing notes are complete and entered within 7 days of visit; review patient profiles and fall assessments; obtain appropriate consents and perform Bill of Rights reviews. Coordinate with pharmacy for medications and supplies; ensure appropriate patient identifiers for initial visits; schedule first home dose visits accordingly. Qualifications
Required: Current licensure by the New Jersey Board of Nursing as a Registered Professional Nurse. IV certification required. Successful completion of all orientation programs. Minimum 5 years of experience as a Licensed RN. Previous infusion experience required. Preferred: PICC and Chemo certification Previous home care experience Scheduling
Full-Time, Salaried position - 37.5 hours a week Participates in on-call coverage 1 week every 5 weeks as back-up to the on-call field nurse Essential Functions
Assist manager with weekly nursing scheduling. Coordinate nursing for Medicare/Medicaid recipients with a certified agency. Fax orders and client information; coordinate care with nursing agency. Maintain CPR paperwork; coordinate patient education. Provide patient and caregiver instruction on therapy administration and safety. Maintain infection control practices and waste disposal as per CDC guidelines. Maintain vehicle safety and comply with cell phone usage policies while driving. Obtain physician orders for discontinuation when appropriate; document in chart. Ensure appropriate nursing visits and accuracy of nursing notes; ensure notes are recorded within 7 days. Be cross-trained to assist in other areas when needed; support coworkers. Maintain flexible schedules and respond to short-notice changes as required. Communicate with Nurse Manager or Nursing Supervisor to ensure continuity of care. Complete UORs when appropriate; manage time sheets and expense vouchers timely. Conduct initial assessments, education, and documentation; return to office within one week of visit. Educate patients/caregivers on therapy, side effects, and device care. Follow CDC infection control guidelines; maintain documentation in logs. Maintain vehicle safety and legal compliance during work-related travel. Obtain physician orders for discontinuation and coordinate chart updates accordingly. Identify and escalate inappropriate home infusion assignments for alternative care. Remain knowledgeable about action, side effects, precautions of therapies administered. Notify Nurse Manager of any conditions not conducive to optimal patient care. Review patient rights, obtain consents, perform fall assessments, and update patient profiles. Schedule initial visits to align with first home dose and verify patient identifiers. Benefits
