Field Biologist (Field Based)

is hiring Field Biologists to conduct surveys and monitoring for special status species for large construction projects in San Jacinto, California. Successful candidates must be flexible and responsive to a changing work environment where schedules, site locations, and tasks fluctuate according to the needs of the project. The role requires technical, organizational, and communication skills. This is a full-time (40+ hours/week) limited-term role with a duration of 3 months and possibility of extension.
Responsibilities
Conduct pre-construction special status species surveys across the client’s project area.
Work independently at often remote locations.
Collect electronic and handheld/sub-meter accurate GPS data.
Compile daily reporting and survey reports.
Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Comply with ERM’s rigorous safety program.
Requirements
At least 2+ years of avian biology and other special status species experience, with expertise in more than one species such as Kangaroo Rats.
Experience with delineation, installation, or maintenance of wildlife exclusion fence or other environmentally sensitive areas.
Familiarity with nesting bird survey protocols and/or general bird identification skills.
Experience with San Joaquin Kit Fox, California Tiger Salamander, Swainson’s hawk is a plus.
Ability to work safely outdoors in variable weather and challenging terrain.
Strong attention to detail in documentation.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Willingness to work extended periods in the field and maintain a positive attitude.
Willingness to travel with overnight stays possible.
Flexible availability for weekends, holidays, and evenings.
Demonstrated independent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle.
Fluency in English and preferred Spanish.
Pay Transparency Annual base pay of $74,825 – $96,901 ($35.97/hr – $46.58/hr). Limited-term, non‑exempt. Employee’s pay will be based on factors such as education, qualifications, experience, and location.
