CLINICAL COUNSELOR – North Kern State Prison (NKSP), Kern County, CA. Job Description and Duties

This is a limited-term part-time position in Mental Health Services. The Clinical Counselor applies counseling interventions and psychotherapeutic techniques within the scope of applicable Business and Professional Code(s) and license to improve an incarcerated individual’s mental health and the effectiveness of preventative skills and behaviors developed for wellness. The Clinical Counselor works preventatively with the incarcerated population, including those not in the mental health delivery system, to provide access, outreach, and prevention wellness strategies. This advertisement is for a Clinical Counselor position located at NKSP in Delano, Kern County. The position number is 182-220-0050-XXX. Notice: The position may be extended or become permanent. Minimum Qualifications

Education: Possession of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Counseling or Psychotherapy, as content and meets the requirements stipulated in Business and Professional Code 4999.32. License: Possession of a valid license as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science. Applicants who do not qualify for licensure by the California Board of Behavioral Science may be admitted into the examination and may be appointed but must secure a valid license within four years of appointment; however, an individual can be employed only to the extent necessary to be eligible for licensure plus one year.
