We are seeking a
full-time Specialty Dialysis Technician (VTS required)
to join our extracorporeal therapies team. In this role, you’ll support pets undergoing life-saving hemodialysis and advanced therapies for acute kidney injury (AKI), toxin ingestion, fluid and electrolyte imbalances, and autoimmune diseases.
This is an opportunity to work on the
leading edge of veterinary internal medicine and critical care , offering treatments few hospitals in the U.S. provide.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and manage
hemodialysis and extracorporeal therapy equipment
Monitor patient vitals and stability during dialysis sessions (typically 4–8 hours)
Assist with central line catheter placement, sedation, and supportive care
Collaborate with internal medicine and ECC teams on patient assessment and treatment plans
Monitor for and respond to potential complications (e.g., hypotension, clotting, bleeding)
Document procedures and maintain equipment and supplies
Support and educate pet owners with clarity and compassion
Common Cases You’ll Help Treat
Acute Kidney Injury (AKI)
Toxin ingestion (e.g., antifreeze, grapes, chemotherapy drugs)
Infectious causes of kidney failure (e.g., leptospirosis)
Severe electrolyte imbalances (e.g., hyperkalemia)
Fluid overload and congestive heart failure unresponsive to meds
Autoimmune diseases requiring
therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE)
Required Qualifications
VTS (Internal Medicine, ECC, or equivalent) required
3+ years of experience in a specialty or emergency hospital setting
Prior experience with
hemodialysis or extracorporeal therapies
preferred
Skilled in anesthesia monitoring, catheter care, and patient handling
Ability to multitask during long, high-focus treatment sessions
Strong communication and collaboration skills
