Speech and Language Pathologist – Special Education

Qualifications
Georgia Speech‑Language Pathology license and/or teaching certificate and a valid Georgia driver’s license.
Master’s degree in speech‑language pathology.
Professional work experience in speech/language preferred.
Thorough knowledge of IDEA due‑process requirements, comprehensive speech‑language evaluations, and speech‑language therapy services.
Strong communication skills with colleagues, parents and ability to collaborate with other staff.
Ability to create and deliver staff development and maintain a positive attitude.
Responsibilities
Screen, evaluate and provide speech‑language therapy for students with identified speech‑language impairments.
Identify students with educationally significant speech‑language disorders.
Participate in Response to Intervention for students suspected of having a language disorder.
Receive referrals from the Student Support Team following the RTI process.
Complete comprehensive evaluations and due‑process paperwork for placement into services.
Provide appropriate intervention for articulation, language, fluency, and voice disorders.
Communicate effectively with school professionals and parents about student progress.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands Frequently required to sit for extended periods; required to talk, hear, stand, walk, use hands. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel or crouch; lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities: close, distance, color, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Reasonable accommodations may be provided.
