Overview Lilly recently announced a $4.5 billion investment to create the Lilly Medicine Foundry (LMF), a new center for advanced manufacturing and drug development. The first-ever facility of its kind, combining research and manufacturing in a single location, the Medicine Foundry will allow Lilly to further develop innovative solutions to optimize manufacturing processes and increase capacity for clinical trial medicines, while also reducing costs and environmental impact.
Responsibilities
Provide oversight and leadership for the Lilly Medicine Foundry’s Site Facilities Outsourced Services Team, including FUME Outsourced Services: Outsourcing Strategy, Contract Management, Vendor/Contractor Performance, Budget Planning, Cost Tracking and Continuous Improvement of LMF Facilities Site Services; direct supervision of Site Contractor Coordinators.
During the startup phase, align with the Global Facilities Delivery (GFD) group in cross-functional project teams responsible for construction, commissioning, qualification, start-up and operational readiness of all Facilities-related systems.
Drive vendor compliance with LMF Service Level Agreements (SLAs), oversight of outsourced services delivery (Safety, Quality, Value), on-site contractor coordination, and contractor resource management in Lilly’s contingent worker system Beeline.
Lead the LMF Facilities Services Team within the Facilities, Utilities, Maintenance and Engineering (FUME) organization and manage contractual agreements with Vendor Outsourced Service Providers.
Oversee outsourced services such as Pest Control, Waste Management, Grounds (Landscape/snow removal), Janitorial, Cafeteria, Facilities Equipment Maintenance; ensure delivery, effectiveness and value of services.
Ensure contractor/vendor compliance with Site HSE requirements, including Safety Permitting, badging, escorting, training, LOTO, PPE, Confined Space, Elevated Work.
Ensure deviations, change controls and CAPAs are resolved and implemented in collaboration with Utilities, Operations, Engineering, EHS, and Quality Assurance.
Ensure outsourced services and processes align with external regulations and Lilly Standards and Best Practices.
Participate in teams, committees, or other groups to achieve departmental, site and/or company goals.
Startup Phase Leadership (2025-2027)
Build the Facilities organization with the necessary capability, capacity and culture to support all critical and non-critical Facilities Services at the LMF to high standards of operational excellence.
Develop and implement systems and processes to operate and maintain critical infrastructure, leveraging Lilly knowledge and external experiences.
Support regulatory compliance and operational excellence by applying lean principles.
Support the project team delivering the facility to the site team with feedback and hands-on support.
Daily Support
Be a role model for team performance and behaviors; help people improve performance, develop capabilities, and close performance gaps with training and coaching.
Provide oversight of the Facilities Team and Contracted Services Partners; trend KPIs to ensure services are delivered efficiently and in compliance.
Oversee management systems to facilitate effective delivery of Site Outsourced Services.
Establish Site/internal customer service requirements and align contractor/vendor capabilities to meet needs.
Collaborate with internal customers to communicate delivery of Facilities Outsourced Services.
Provide technical assistance to internal FUME staff and cross-functional partners (Operations, QA, Engineering).
Prepare the department for inspections and drive corrective actions with partners such as Quality and HSE.
Oversee Quality Management Systems (QMS) such as Trackwise and ensure CAPAs are implemented on time.
Basic Requirements
Associates or BS degree with at least 5 years of work experience in Engineering/Maintenance/Utilities.
OR
High School Diploma with 10+ years of Industrial/Manufacturing Facilities Management experience, preferably in a regulated environment.
Supervisory experience with the ability to lead a technical team, communicate cross-functionally at all levels, make independent decisions, and influence a diverse and matrix organization.
Ability to operate within a regulated industry and make risk-based compliance-related decisions.
Ability to instill teamwork and demonstrate key interpersonal skills.
Additional Preferences
Previous Facilities Management experience: supervisory experience of technical personnel and contracted Facilities Outsourced Service Providers.
Negotiation/oversight of Vendor Service Contracts and Service Level Agreements.
Understanding of Facilities/Utilities Systems and equipment maintenance.
Project management experience; CMMS experience; deviation and change management familiarity.
Office software skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams); excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of cGMP; strong technical aptitude and ability to train and mentor others.
