Responsibilities
Conducts clinical laboratory tests and analysis in the areas of hematology, microbiology, immunology, clinical chemistry, and urinalysis.
Analyzes samples of biological material for chemical content or reaction.
Conducts chemical analysis of body fluids to determine the presence of normal and abnormal components.
Cultivates, isolates, assists in identifying, and conducts tests on microbial organisms; prepares slides for microscopic study and diagnosis.
Selects and prepares specimens and media for cell culture, using aseptic techniques. Studies blood samples to determine cell counts, morphology, blood type, and compatibility for transfusion.
Operates, calibrates, and maintains equipment used in quantitative and qualitative analysis; promotes safety and infection control practices.

Qualifications
Certifications, Licenses, or Registration: One of the following credentials required post-hire within 120 days:
American Association of Bioanalysts, MT(AAB)
American Medical Technologists, MT(AMT)
American Society for Clinical Pathology, MT(ASCP)
American Society for Clinical Pathology, MB(ASCP)
National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel CLS(NCA)
Equivalent categorical registrations in relevant areas from ASCP (e.g., BB, C, SCYM, H, MLS, M, MB, etc.)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of laboratory protocols; analytical skills; ability to analyze and verify clinical and/or laboratory data; computer skills.
Physical and Environmental Demands Requires occasional exposure to high noise levels, heat/cold, bio-hazardous conditions, radiation risk, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic chemicals. Requires attention to safety; physical demands include frequent standing, walking, bending, pushing/pulling, reaching; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; varied shifts and environments.
