Special Kids
Special Kids is a Christian therapy and nursing center for children with special needs. Based in Murfreesboro, TN, we serve children ages birth through 21 years with a range of services, including speech‑language pathology.
Position Overview We are looking for a Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide individualized therapy to children with communication disorders. The role includes assessment, treatment planning, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, and documentation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Diagnose and evaluate speech and language skills and provide treatment for children with diverse communication disorders and developmental delays.
Use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices as appropriate.
Coordinate participation in multi‑sensory, educational, functional, and social activities to enhance patient development.
Prepare patients for school and daily living and assist in lifestyle adjustments.
Teach families and colleagues the best treatment procedures for carry‑over in multiple environments.
Maintain accurate, timely documentation in electronic medical records.
Administer, score, and interpret evaluation reports to develop individualized treatment plans.
Review treatment plans and modify goals based on patient progress.
Collaborate with other disciplines to integrate speech‑language goals into daily activities.
Refer patients for additional services as warranted.
Attend meetings, conferences, and participate in professional development.
Maintain high patient care productivity and attendance policy compliance.
Education & Experience
Master’s degree in Communication Disorders or Speech‑Language Pathology.
Active and unencumbered Tennessee State SLP license.
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA.
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification with CPR training.
Membership in ASHA recommended; HIPAA certification encouraged.
Computer Skills Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software, including electronic medical records.
