As an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT Basic), you work as part of an elite emergency care team, providing the highest quality basic life support in a prehospital setting or in a hospital emergency department environment. You assess and treat patients of all ages, illnesses and injuries, perform physical exams, control bleeding, manage airways, and maintain circulation. Saving lives is a mindset and a skillset you bring to every call. Responsibilities
Respond to dispatch information and drive specially equipped emergency vehicles to specified locations within applicable norms. Stabilize ill or injured persons by extricating them, rendering first aid, and relaying status to medical personnel. Utilize medical equipment and procedures including a defibrillator, EKG monitor, oxygen and suction devices, intravenous fluids, CPR and other procedures and medications as required to provide advanced medical care. Recognize deviations or changes in a patient’s health due to condition and treatment provided. Maintain vehicle/supplies, communications equipment and medical equipment in accordance with applicable standards. Keep vehicles and equipment clean, organized, stocked and sanitized before each trip; use proper PPE when sanitizing or cleaning spills. Utilize and operate appropriate communications equipment, medical equipment, cleaning equipment, office equipment and tools. Document activities with regard to patient care and billing to ensure information is available for each call. The Must-Haves
Minimum: High School Diploma/GED required. National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians as an EMT/B. Licensed in Louisiana as an EMT/B. Current chauffeur’s license or equivalent. American Heart Association BLS certification. Preferred
1 year of experience as an EMT Basic. Defensive driving course certification. Work Shift
