Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Occupational Therapy Assistant for a 13-week travel assignment in Jennings, Louisiana. Required Qualifications

Valid Occupational Therapy Assistant license in compliance with state regulations

Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC)

Preferred Qualifications

COTA Certification (NBCOT)

Graduate of an accredited program in occupational therapy

Occupational Therapy Assistant experience, but New Grads are welcome to apply

Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position

Summary The Occupational Therapy Assistant provides direct, hands‑on therapeutic interventions to support patients in regaining or developing skills necessary for daily living. Working under the supervision of a licensed OT, the Occupational Therapy Assistant implements individualized treatment plans, assists with adaptive techniques and equipment, and educates patients and their families on strategies to enhance functional independence.

Essential Work Functions

Deliver individualized occupational therapy interventions and treatments in accordance with the established treatment plan

Maintain and operate adaptive equipment and assistive devices integral to occupational therapy interventions

Provide education to patients and caregivers about occupational therapy techniques and strategies for effective self‑management

Collaborate with Occupational Therapists and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care and ensure continuity of treatment

Monitor patient responses during treatment, accurately documenting outcomes in the medical record

Promptly report findings to the supervising Occupational Therapist

Provide care in diverse clinical settings, including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and community clinics, adapting interventions to meet the specific needs of each environment

Adjust effectively to various clinical settings and evolving patient care needs, demonstrating flexibility in practice

Prioritize tasks efficiently to manage multiple patients and responsibilities in a dynamic work environment

Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards while addressing patients’ comfort needs during therapy sessions

Perform additional duties assigned within scope of practice

Required Essential Skills

Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills

The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language

Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills

Physical Abilities – must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend

Interpersonal Skills – must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism

Technical/Motor Skills – must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment

Mental Requirements – must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and maintain continuous concentration to detail

Sensory – must possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate
