Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) LPN
Location: Detroit, Michigan – Wayne County Jail
Pay: $30.58–$32.19 per hour plus shift differentials. Rates vary based on licensure, experience, and site needs.
Overview As a Correctional Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) LPN, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment where security is top priority and the days are never dull, you will perform physical assessments, administer medications, manage chronic illnesses, and respond to emergencies. This unique position allows you to make a difference for a diverse population with complex medical needs.
Training & Support
New grads are encouraged to apply – we’ll train you in correctional healthcare.
Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive patient assessments to determine eligibility for MAT, including medical history, substance use history, mental health evaluation, and physical examination.
Administer MAT medications as prescribed, ensuring proper dosing and monitoring for adverse effects and drug interactions.
Educate patients about MAT medications, potential side effects, and the importance of medication adherence, addressing misconceptions and stigma.
Monitor patients during induction, stabilization, and treatment phases, ensuring adherence to the program.
Maintain medical records, including entering information into our electronic health record, TechCare.
Observe patient health and mental health status.
Provide emergency first aid.
Provide patient education and discharge/release planning.
Qualifications
Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program.
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Actively state‑certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
Possess an active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association preferred).
Maintain confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information.
Display integrity, professionalism, and adhere to a Code of Conduct and all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
Pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
Physical Capabilities Must stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR while maintaining balance and endurance throughout a shift.
