Overview

Quality Lab Technician - 2nd Shift at Precision Castparts (PCC Mason). The role involves quality assurance inspections and evaluations on aerospace fasteners to ensure products meet specifications and customer requirements. Training starts on first shift with transition to the Second Shift after completion of training. Responsibilities

Perform metallographic inspections using equipment such as rotary cut off saws, mounting, polishing machines, and optical microscopes. Perform mechanical and chemical composition testing using equipment such as tensile and fatigue testing machines and composition analyzers. Conduct quality audits and process control during production runs (e.g., size checks, heat treat evaluations, hardness testing). Accurately record and report inspection data in quality management systems (QMS) and production routers. Identify and isolate non-conforming parts and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions. Log incoming production, maintain traceability, and maintain records of accepted/rejected products. Support non-destructive testing and evaluate results. Perform daily calibrations/checks of production and inspection gauges. Perform general housekeeping and maintenance in the lab. Prepare and use acids/etchants and other chemical solutions for metallurgical inspections. Perform any additional tasks assigned by manager or quality engineer. Required Skills

Work safely to meet or exceed production and quality standards. Able to adjust effectively to business and team changes to meet demands. Ability to use precision measuring instruments and metallurgical test equipment with interpretation. Understanding of basic math calculations and units of measure. Computer literate. Desired Skills

Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in a team. NDT inspection level 2 or above certification is highly desirable. Attention to detail and ability to work hands-on with the team to achieve objectives. Ability to perform duties in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and varying temperatures. Knowledge of the aerospace industry and involvement with Quality Management System audits. Experience & Education

High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in a related field preferred. 1–3 years of experience in a quality inspection role within aerospace, automotive, or precision manufacturing. Hands-on experience with metallographic/mechanical testing or gauging equipment preferred. Experience or skill in visual inspection of high-precision products and attention to detail. Ability to use various analytical equipment, tools, and instruments as required. Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift and carry items up to 35 pounds on an intermittent basis. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist, and work at heights intermittently. Requires hand manipulation including grasping, pushing, and pulling of materials. Must be able to reach and work above and below shoulder level. Must be able to work with and around forklifts and hazardous machinery. Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment. Benefits
