Responsibilities Performs the duties of a cardiac technologist: invasive cardiac and peripheral vascular diagnostic and interventional procedures and electrophysiology procedures using imaging, hemodynamic monitoring and recording equipment to assess and treat cardiac and peripheral vascular disease. Monitors and analyzes the patient's electrocardiogram (EKG) and intracardiac pressures; assists the medical team with sterile procedures. Operates X-ray and other laboratory equipment. Draws blood samples and obtains sterile supplies when needed. Works with patients across the age spectrum from newborn to geriatric. Dedicated to electrophysiology (EP) procedures, related protocols, and devices (e.g., pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators, BiV). Ensures high-quality care for patients with rhythm disturbances and cardiac arrhythmias. Applies pharmacologic knowledge to treat patients and understands protocols for conscious sedation. Maintains thorough knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, hemodynamics, X-ray techniques, and emergent and routine cardiac care. Updates self and staff on EP protocols. Supports growth and development needs of diverse client populations, from children to geriatrics.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Cardiovascular Technology or equivalent experience is required.

Expert knowledge in electrophysiology and cardiovascular technology, including pharmacology and advanced cardiac rhythm management.

Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) registry through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) is required within 18 months of hire.

RCIS through CCI is preferred.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if applicable to position is preferred.
