Overview
Temporary Inpatient Nutritionist-Food Service Therapeutics-Mount Sinai Morningside-Full Time/Days. Under the direction of Clinical Nutrition leadership, provides quality nutrition care and education to patients and family members. Assesses nutritional status and recommends appropriate nutrition therapy as it pertains to patient needs. Provides nutrition counseling and adheres to department and hospital philosophies, standards, objectives, and policies and procedures. Responsibilities
Evaluates the nutritional status of patients by reviewing information from the electronic medical record and the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Applies nutrition screening and assessment to determine patient needs. Conducts nutrition-focused physical exams to determine risk and/or degree of malnutrition. Documents pertinent findings in the medical record as per policy. Maintains individual daily productivity, annual competencies, and other required documentation of direct and non-direct patient care functions, with timely submission to direct supervisor. Meets department benchmarks for productivity. Provides quality nutrition counseling to patients, family members, and caregivers as indicated. Evaluates nutrition care plans for effectiveness and recommends changes as needed. Adapts guidelines and standards to meet patient needs. Evaluates the need for enteral and parenteral nutrition support. Obtains patients’ food preferences and confirms allergies. Communicates with the diet office as needed. Performs meal rounds. Works collaboratively with the Food Service Department to meet patient needs and ensure compliance with therapeutic diets. Communicates effectively with the healthcare team by participating in interdisciplinary rounds and discharge planning rounds. Precepts dietetic interns and provides feedback for student evaluations. Participates in department activities, nutrition in-services, interdepartmental programs, lectures, and community-focused programs. Demonstrates effective communication with peers and supervisors. Accepts and incorporates feedback for clinical development. Compliant with hospital/regulatory guidelines and policies. Works rotating weekends and holidays. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with ACEND-accredited dietetic internship required. Master’s Degree in Clinical Nutrition or related field preferred. Minimum 0 years’ experience + completion of ACEND-accredited dietetic internship. Registered Dietitian (RD) or registration-eligible (must pass RD exam within 3 months of hire). Certified Dietitian Nutritionist (CDN) from NYS encouraged. Employer Description

The salary range for this role is $59,895.00 - $89,843.00 annually. Actual salary depends on experience, education, and operational need. This range does not include bonuses, differential pay, or other forms of compensation.
