$45,258 – $51,795 Employment Type:

Position Summary A sign-on bonus of $2,000 is available (pay in two installments: $1,000 within 30 days of hire and $1,000 12 months after hire). The Dental Assistant assists with surgical and dental activities in the Office of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery specialty, supporting faculty, students, and patients. Responsibilities include preparing the clinic, setting up sterile surgical trays, assisting with procedures, obtaining surgical consent, recording vitals, providing post‑op care instructions, and maintaining operating room inventory.
Responsibilities • Prepare clinic and surgical trays using sterile techniques. • Assist with a variety of surgical and dental procedures, including implants, trauma surgery, and cleft palates. • Obtain and document pre‑ and post‑operative vitals and consent. • Review surgical caseload each day and aid in clinical education of students. • Handle medical emergencies when required, order x‑rays, complete pathology and microbiology forms, and maintain inventory.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited dental assisting program; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Knowledge of sterile technique and infection control guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Basic comprehension of oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures.
Physical/Mental Requirements
Ability to stand or sit for long periods.
Maintain composure under stressful situations.
Active movement throughout the day (sitting, walking, standing, squatting, bending, stooping, and reaching).
Push up to 250‑lb person in a wheelchair (with/without accommodation).
Move/lift up to 50 pounds (with/without accommodation).
Assist/lift drowsy patients after anesthesia (with/without accommodation).
