Overview
Speech Therapist - Speech Therapy - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union) Apply to join Keck Medicine of USC Hospital in Los Angeles, California. This role supports speech pathology services for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, within the rehabilitation team and in compliance with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities Serves as a clinical resource person and assigns and supervises the work of new staff, including completion of competency validation tool.
Upon referral of a patient to the department, initiates care per policy and provides and/or manages all aspects of speech pathology intervention.
Consistently completes all required documentation as per departmental policy.
Participates in clinics, rounds, and patient conferences, as assigned and as patient care responsibilities allow.
Attends and contributes to patient care conferences to provide continuity of care.
Provides leadership in conferences that facilitate processes, improve communication, or increase effectiveness and efficiency.
Leads professional contribution to increased awareness of the role of therapy or the impact on care plans.
Manages a full patient caseload, including all aspects of patient care, documentation and communication requirements, and assists in meeting departmental efficiency requirements.
Demonstrates commitment to the profession as evidenced by membership in the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Attends one professional meeting per year.
Publishes, speaks, participates in clinical research, or engages in professional activities with ASHA.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required Qualifications Master's degree in Communication Disorders satisfying ASHA CCC-SLP requirements.
Specialized/technical training with successful completion of clinical training.
Demonstrates excellent customer service behavior.
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word and Internet utilization.
Ability to effectively work with physicians, staff, and patients.
Preferred Qualifications 3 years’ experience in an acute hospital setting (preferred).
Required Licenses/Certifications Speech Language Pathologist - SLP (CA DCA) Current California license.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
Fire Life Safety Training (Los Angeles City) – required within LA City only.
The hourly rate range for this position is $46.00 - $76.07. When extending an offer of employment, USC considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience, education, key skills, internal equity, and applicable laws and contractual considerations.
