Job Summary The Speech Therapist provides high-quality, patient-centered care by developing and conducting individualized therapy programs for patients with communication, cognitive, and/or swallowing impairments. As a member of the health care team, the Speech Therapist performs comprehensive patient assessments, establishes appropriate treatment goals, and serves as an educator to patients, families, students, and colleagues.
Responsibilities
Conduct subjective assessment of assigned patients’ speech language abilities during spontaneous conversation.
Administer objective tests to assess patients’ communication assets and liabilities.
Structure and implement individualized patient program to improve communication abilities.
Evaluate patients regularly during treatment and adjust program as needed to maximize progress.
Document progress in patient charts; complete notes, charges, discharge notes, and patient communication.
Consult with Program Director and Rehab Physician/Medical Director regarding pre-screen assessments and physician consultations to determine appropriate placement of potential patients.
Qualifications
Basic Cardiac Life Support certification obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Bachelor’s Degree.
Licensed or Certified Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP).
