Under the direction of a Radiologist, specializes in the performance of procedures of an invasive nature to aid in the evaluation of pathological entities as prescribed by a physician. Responsibilities

Explains examination procedure to patients and prepares patient for the examination. Obtains additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary. Prepares prescribed contrast median, medications, and IV solutions for administration to patients. Reviews clinical data on requisition, analyzes anatomical structure of patient, sets up equipment and, following protocols, and assists Radiologist in performing complex diagnostic invasive procedures. Prepares and sets up sterile equipment, physiological monitors, pressure injectors, and imaging equipment required for the procedure. Ensures the adequate supplies such as needles, catheters, etc. are on hand and properly stored. Replenishes supplies as appropriate. Is one of the team who actively assesses the patient condition before, during, and following all procedures. Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information for the area of the body being studied. May assist with the training of new personnel and/or student who are assigned to the division. Performs all imaging procedures by demonstrating the principles of radiation protection: may involve shielding of patients, selection of appropriate equipment settings to reduction dose, using other ALARA techniques, etc. PACS: resolves image exceptions and ensures high quality image delivery into PACS. RIS: completes all study indexing and the completion of the study in the Radiology Information System; reviews and confirms with Radiologist per clinical protocols before performing the study. Demonstrates Team Member Standards of Excellence including: AIDET, open communication, timely responses, positive attitude, fostering innovation, respecting diversity. Performs Quality Assurance procedures as appropriate and documents in the medical record and radiology information system to support clinical and billing functions. Performs related functions according to department protocols. Utilizes independent judgment in determining appropriate imaging techniques, patient positioning, and safety practices. Education

High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required. Must maintain required hours of continued medical education. Certification & Licensure

Must maintain a Healthcare Provider certification (BLS). Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with the Advanced Registry in one of the following: Cardiac-Interventional Radiography (CI). Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI). Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography (CV). At least year of IR Neuro experience Required Phillips and Siemens equipment used. MergePass and Cerner EMR, prior experience a plus Priority is IR, needing candidates versed in Neuro to accommodate that patient need. 2-5 patients/day lower volume department. Seniority level
