Under the supervision of a dentist, the Dental Hygienist performs prophylactic and therapeutic services and conducts client education to prevent and control dental disease. Responsibilities:
Performs supply inventories. Adheres to all safety procedures, continuing education requirements, operational procedures, compliance policies, occupational exposure policies, disaster plans, infection control policies, and regulatory requirements. Demonstrates appropriate precautions for blood/body fluid exposure. Understands age-specific needs of the dental patient population. Takes and develops radiographs. Shares responsibilities with the dental assistant for cleaning, packing, and storing supplies and instruments. Assists in supervising dental hygiene students. Shows commitment to care standards and standards of care. Responds appropriately to emergencies (e.g., cardiac arrest, fire drills). Performs other duties as assigned or needed. Cleans and cares for teeth, including polishing, scaling, and root planning; provides oral health education; may perform fluoride treatments and dental sealants. Advises patients on proper home care and treatment of teeth and gums. Maintains accurate service records and communicates effectively with the healthcare team. Suggests improvements to work methods or procedures; participates in Quality Improvement processes. Performs all duties respecting patient dignity, privacy, and rights. Assists in organization and implementation of clinic procedures. Supports dentists, dental assistants, and expanded function dental assistants as needed. Must meet hospital qualifications and possess a degree from an accredited Dental Hygienist Program. Must hold a Pennsylvania State Board of Examiners License. Must be familiar with dental equipment and terminology. Must be able to plan, prioritize, and communicate effectively. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Dental Hygienist license. Schedule:
Full-time Day shift, Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM. No weekends, holidays, or hospital coverage. Additional Information:
