Diagnostic Perinatology Sonographer
Trinity Health MI invites applications for the Diagnostic Perinatology Sonographer position.
Employment type: Full time. Shift: Day Shift.
Responsibilities
Independently and collaboratively perform a variety of obstetric perinatology ultrasound procedures according to MFM protocols, including:
Ultrasound OB
Ultrasound OB > 14 weeks
Ultrasound OB 18-20 weeks—screen for malformation
Ultrasound OB transvaginal
Ultrasound OB Biophysical profile
Ultrasound OB Doppler fetal umbilical
Ultrasound OB nuchal measure (NT)
Assist MFM in guidance of needle placement for ultrasound-guided amniocentesis.
Verify patient identification and ensure correctness of orders per department policy.
Assess appropriateness of ordered procedure and initiate necessary changes for patient safety.
Prepare test for interpretation; discuss cases with MFM Physician and report important findings.
Resolve daily operational issues and report to Coordinator/Director.
Maintain and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
Communicate problems and status to coordinator for operational alternatives.
Qualifications
Licensure – American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Nuchal Translucency (NT) / Nasal Bone Certification eligible
C.L.E.A.R Certification eligible
Current BLS card
Strong understanding of anatomy and principles of physics, electricity, and variation of anatomical postures
Proficiency in scanning methods to obtain clear images
Ability to set up and operate equipment
Knowledge of patient care and sterile techniques
Compliance with MFM standards, procedures, and protocols
Keep abreast of new procedures, equipment, and methods
