Responsibilities
Day Shift - 7.5 Hours (United States of America) Under the direction of a laboratory technologist, perform routine diagnostic testing within a designated section of the lab. Utilize standard techniques, equipment and instrumentation to conduct all testing. Recognize abnormal or unexpected results and initiate follow up or corrective action within established parameters.
Perform accurate analysis following standard techniques. Utilize established quality control procedures to ensure reliable results.
Maintain instruments and equipment and ensure they are in good working condition. Practice established preventative maintenance protocols and document these actions appropriately.
Keep accurate records of work performed according to established procedures using designated computer systems to document and work productively.
Compare test results to pre-established criteria in order to determine the reportability of results. Ensure results meet preset parameters or criteria.
Recognize and communicate unusual test results to the supervisor or manager to ensure prompt reporting of abnormal or critical values.
Monitor supplies, materials, and reagents. Report inventory shortages to technologist or supervisors to ensure uninterrupted service.
Participate in technical projects as directed to expand and improve service.
Demonstrate routine procedures for students and technicians under the supervision of technologists in order to fulfill the department\'s goals.
Attend in-service training programs to improve knowledge and skills, and to share experience with staff.
Comply with all RUMC infection control and safety procedures to provide a safe environment for self, staff and patients.
Qualifications
1 year experience in clinical lab preferred.
NYSDOH license required, ASCP preferred.
Days w/ eo wknd & hols; 2p-5p
Salary Range: $35.842/hr - $38.833/hr
