unaccompanied children

Responsibilities
Provide
trauma-informed case management
and social work services
Conduct and document
ORR assessments
in compliance with federal guidelines
Coordinate referrals, therapeutic services, and care planning
Collaborate with foster families, legal teams, and service providers
Report and document significant incidents per ORR policies
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
in Social Work or a related human services field (required)
Valid, unrestricted driver’s license
and
reliable personal transportation
Proof of current auto insurance
Bilingual in Spanish
strongly preferred
Strong organizational, communication, and advocacy skills

Provides social work and case management services for assigned cases, in accordance with all applicable contractual and regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Conducts and documents ORR unaccompanied child (UC) assessments in accordance with ORR policies and procedures. May arrange referrals, consultations, therapeutic services, and confer with other specialists on the course of care and treatment. Reports significant incidents in accordance with ORR policies and procedures, and program services quality.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assume primary responsibility for all cases on assigned caseload. Provide a range of case management, including social casework, engagement, and mentoring
Collect, assess and document appropriate data and client progress. Assume responsibility for and complete documentation, reports, statistics, and assignments within required time frames and as required
Work collaboratively with referral sources, agencies, institutions and individuals who have pertinent roles in client\'s life situation
Take primary responsibility for intake and initial placement services for all newly referred cases
Coordinate placement arrangements with care provider, including transportation of children as needed
Provide more intensive supportive casework services to child, birth family, and care provider during initial placement and transfer
Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification
Bachelor degree in Social Work or related human service field
Licensed by the State of Michigan preferred
Experience
One year experience in child welfare, preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to work with minimal direct supervision
Ability to utilize assessment, problem identification, and intervention with individuals, families, and groups
Ability to work within complex social systems and coordinate resources as they apply to client needs
Ability to deal constructively and appropriately with client apathy, hostility, resistance, and anger
Ability to work in team relationships with other professionals from varied community groups, agencies, and disciplines
Ability to read, write and speak fluent English. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Bilingual in the language of persons served is beneficial
Ability to communicate with staff, outside agencies and others over the telephone and in person. Ability to input data into computer, make calculations, complete paperwork, and produce reports. Ability to read, review and proofread documents to determine accuracy.
Knowledge of federal, state and local human service systems and resources, particularly as they apply to child and family services; human growth, development, and social environments with respect to child development, personality, family life, and ethnicity; and ability to employ basic social work skills
Understanding of the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the clients served
Additional Work Requirements
Participate in a system of 7-day case management services
Unrestricted valid driver\'s license with good driving record. Reliable personal transportation suitable for safely transporting persons served; proof of current automobile insurance
