Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Bronson Battle Creek Hospital Oncology FT 12N (7p-7a) Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the RN, provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services within the scope of practical nursing to ill, injured, convalescent, and disabled patients as delegated, appropriate to the patientacuity and in accordance with department and organization policies and procedures. Assist Registered Nurse in collecting data, accompanying patients, and responding to patient/family requests for services. May pass medications and administer IV therapy as directed. Demonstrate competencies specific to the population served. Maintain patient flow and document data gathered and care provided; communicate patient status to the physician as appropriate. Respond to call lights and monitor alarms, providing assistance to patients and families. Manage IV fluids and medication administration; observe and report adverse reactions; note time and amount on charts. Provide basic wound care, bathing, patient transfers, and assistance with activities of daily living as needed; assist with specimen collection for testing. Prepare or examine food trays for prescribed diets and assist with feeding as directed. Assist in delivery, care, and feeding of infants where applicable; assemble and use equipment (catheters, tracheotomy tubes, oxygen supplies) as needed; sterilize equipment and supplies; inventory and requisition supplies. Utilize computerized systems to enter patient data and obtain needed supplies. Maintain a clean, orderly healthcare environment. Education and Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and successful completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program. Licensed Practical Nurse in good standing with the State of Michigan. BLS certification by the end of the core orientation period. Experience in a health care delivery setting is preferred. Required Competencies
Ability to demonstrate clinical competencies required to perform LPN functions within a general orientation period of approximately 3 months. Ability to move and respond quickly to emergency situations. Ability to input and retrieve data from computerized systems. Ability to rotate within service line and related service areas. Effective communication with patients, visitors, and the care delivery team; clear speech, legible writing, and a comforting, positive demeanor. Shift and Schedule
Shift: 12 Hour Night Shift; Time Type: Full time; Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36
