Summary: May be eligible for sign on bonus up to $5,000. The Physical Therapist Assistant provides physical therapy services in accordance with a written plan of care and under the advisement of a supervising Physical Therapist. Activities are patient focused in accordance with physical therapy standards, physician orders, and affiliate policies and procedures. Responsibilities
Provides treatment techniques to facilitate and restore optimal functioning performance specific to patient care area for the physical therapist assistant. Provides adequate feedback to Physical Therapist regarding patient’s progress and reports any unusual reaction or response to the therapeutic program. Documents the patient/family/caregiver response to treatment and changes in patient condition per affiliate documentation policies and regulatory standards. Completes daily documentation necessary for billing procedures per affiliate policy and regulatory requirements. Educates patient/family/caregiver in home education program using relevant and effective teaching methods. Other duties and responsibilities
Demonstrates effective oral and written communication with all internal and external customers to maximize quality of patient care, including coordination with interdisciplinary team members. Promotes education and development among staff, students, and other health care providers using effective teaching methods. Promotes process improvement and assists with program development. Provides feedback in team conferences and interdisciplinary meetings as appropriate. Promotes physical therapy within MyMichigan Health and service area, including community education. Maintains confidentiality of patient and affiliate information per policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned. Successful completion of MyMichigan Health and affiliate-specific orientation and new hire competency. Interpersonal skills for effective verbal and written communication in English with individuals and groups at all levels. Ability to work independently with problem-solving, organizational, time-management skills and initiative. Mandatory OSHA training; annual completion required per Exposure Control Plan. Ability to work with individuals and groups; communicate ideas clearly. Ability to work where exposure to communicable diseases exists and to correctly use PPE. Ability to perform essential job functions with reasonable accommodation and to demonstrate and teach selected treatment routines to appropriate professionals and non-professionals. Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Conditions
Exposure to stressful situations, including public contact, trauma, grief and death; wear PPE as required including latex or substitutes. Move freely about the facility with/without assistive devices and perform job duties as outlined. Full vision and hearing capability; frequently sit/stand/walk; may require postural changes. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious material; follow safety protocols. Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, and maintain regular attendance.
