CNA/ Behavioral Health Safety Attendant, Full-Time, Nights Be a part of a world‑class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital as a CNA/ Behavioral Health Safety Attendant in the Behavioral Health department. You will prepare patients, assist with meals, and provide direct patient care essential to meeting patients’ physical, personal, and comfort needs.

Position is 100% onsite, based in the greater Chicagoland area.

Essential Job Functions

Maintains direct visual access to patient at all times to provide ongoing and continuous observation and monitoring for patients assigned

Communicates any changes in patient’s behavior or condition to nurse immediately

Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality at all times

Notifies nursing office immediately when observation case has been discontinued

Remains alert and aware of patient behavior at all times

Effectively copes in stressful situations

Promotes the values and mission of Ingalls Memorial Hospital

Acts as a patient/family advocate with a focus on Behavioral Health

Provides comfort measures and assistance to patient and family

Performs hourly rounds on patients and meets needs as appropriate

Demonstrates the necessary skills and knowledge to provide care for patients according to unit specific Scope of Care

Understands Growth and Development and responds effectively to the unique needs of specific patient populations

Follows plan of care by completing assigned tasks related to direct patient care

Assists with admissions by setting up patient rooms, orienting patients to rooms, obtaining height, weight, temperature, pulse, respiration rate, blood pressure (in both arms when applicable), changing clothing, labeling, and storing personal care items

Observes and follows infection control policies and procedures in accordance with infection control policy

Works directly with patients to provide a safe, therapeutic environment

Required Qualifications

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)

High school diploma or equivalent

Completed Medical Terminology Course

Past or current experience in an acute care hospital setting

CPI certification required within 60 days of hire

De‑escalation training or experience preferred

Compensation & Benefits Overview Base pay range: $21.00/hr – $25.00/hr. The pay range reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and its respective union.
