STANDARD HOURS:

40 hours per week. Typical hours Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; flexibility required to include other evening and/or weekend hours, as necessary.

STARTING PAY RANGE:

$69,344 - $74,738 per year

Position Summary:

The Academic, Career and Transfer Advising Manager will support the Director in implementing and coordinating programs that enhance student engagement, retention, completion and post‑college success. This position will provide day‑to‑day oversight and leadership for staff in Advising, Career Services, and Career and Transfer Center. The Manager will lead work on students’ first‑year onboarding experiences and ensure alignment with institutional goals to support a seamless student experience. Use Coaching as a guiding framework for the team’s work with students.

Essential Functions:

Supports the implementation of the department’s goals by overseeing daily career, academic and transfer advising operations, coordinating staff efforts, and ensuring consistent delivery of high‑quality student support services.

Collaboratively oversee day‑to‑day operations, performance evaluations, and professional development for assigned staff. Provide shared leadership for the Academic, Career Services, and Transfer Center teams, including coordination of daily functions such as staff coverage, workload distribution, and team assignments.

Collaborate closely with the Director to align advising practices with institutional priorities, enhance student outcomes, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Assist the Director to manage the human resource needs of assigned teams including the selection, retention, performance management, and development of employees. Provide inspirational leadership in the design, development, and implementation of team policies, procedures, and initiatives that support student success. Support an existing environment of transparent, honest dialogue.

Oversee event development and participate in college‑wide events related to academic, career and transfer advising.

Support Career Services functions to include career exploration, job search preparation, employer engagement, and internship support.

Support the implementation of First Year Experience programming, including orientation, student onboarding, and early engagement strategies.

Utilize data to support planning, budgeting, and resource allocation efforts that enhance operational efficiency and student outcomes.

Assess services to ensure accuracy, relevancy, and viability of programs delivered to prospective and currently enrolled students within a coaching framework. Recommend enhancements and new initiatives to support best practices and measure student success outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications And Work Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree

A minimum of four years related experience in higher education or related industry (K‑12, social work, etc.).

A minimum of two years of leadership experience.

Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with client database or Student Information Systems (SIS).

Must hold a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the District’s standard insurance policy terms.

An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in advising and career assessment is preferred.

Visual and Auditory: Ability to read documents and communicate effectively with students and staff.

Light Lifting: Capability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
